The first meeting of the AIS Special Interest Group on Program Assessment and Accreditation (SIG PAA) was held in San Francisco, CA at the annual AmCIS meeting. The SIG PAA group is led by George Kasper (Virginia Commonwealth University), Carolyn Jacobson (Mount St. Mary’s University), and Rick Mathieu (James Madison University). 
The mission of SIG PAA is to promote and advocate quality IS programs by:
- Sharing best practices associated with IS program assessment
- Serving as a collaborative voice for IS accreditation standards, curriculum and processes in the international IS community
- Promoting scholarship of IS assessment
- Promoting the benefits of accreditation and assessment in the information systems discipline
- Advocating AIS membership and AIS-sponsored conference attendance for faculty in IS accredited programs
- Encouraging AIS members to become program evaluators with the responsibility of evaluating programs being reviewed for accreditation.
